Hardwood Floor Maintenance

Maintaining the Beauty of your Dynasty Floor™
Your Dynasty Hardwood Floor is designed for optimal durability and ease of care- there’s very little you have to do to ensure a lifetime of enjoyment! Here are few tips to help preserve the beauty of new flooring:
  1. Maintaining relative humidity control in your home is essential to having a healthy environment for hardwood floors; it is recommended that you keep your humidity levels between 35-65%.
  2. Furniture legs and wheels can scratch and gouge your wood floor – use special protective cover (rubber or felt, not plastic) at the base of all your furniture.
  3. Doormats or rugs at all entry points can significantly reduce the amount of dirt and moisture being tracked into the house and onto your wood floor. Keep doormats and rugs clean and dry with regular care.
  4. Rugs or mats are also strongly recommended in areas where water is used (sinks, tubs, dishwasher, etc.) or in areas of highly use (such as corridors or hallways).
  5. Dynasty Floor™ feature UV protection, an in-wood treatment formulated to minimize the color change that can occur as a result of exposure to the sun – you can help as well by protecting your floor from too much direct sunlight or other intense lighting.
Note: some species will naturally change color as a result of oxidization, which is not the same as exposure to sunlight.
  6. Sweep and vacuum your floor regularly.
  7. Clean your floor with Bona Care products, or other products recommended specifically for wood flooring, available from Dynasty retailer.
  8. Never pour liquid cleaner directly onto floor.
  9. Do not wash your floor with a wet mop; use a mop with a cloth cover. (Bona Swedish Formula  cleaning kit)
  10. Clean up all spills immediately.
  11. Stiletto heels, pointed heels and other sharp objects on shoes can permanently damage your floor; ask family or guests to remove their footwear if necessary.
  12. Do not move heave objects such as refrigerator with out putting a protective cover underneath first; one good way to move heavy objects is to lower them into a rug and slide them across the room.
  13. Never use wax, oil-based detergent or other domestic cleaners (unless specifically formulated for hardwood floors) on your floor. These products can stain or damage the finish and leave a greasy residue that will make the floor slippery and harder to clean properly.
  14. Use Bona Swedish Formula cleaning kit for your floor.
